Cline brings 25 years of hospitality management experience to the iconic Hotel Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, CA (March 10, 2022) – Geronimo Hospitality Group has named Chris Cline as general manager of Hotel Santa Barbara, the iconic 75-key boutique hotel on State Street in downtown Santa Barbara. As hotel general manager, Cline will oversee operations, onboard new employees and ensure guest satisfaction from check-in to check-out.

Cline brings more than 25 years of hospitality management experience to Hotel Santa Barbara, from companies large and small, and hotels that range from three star to luxury, high-end boutiques throughout California. He is experienced in room operations, food and beverage, and sales management.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working at several hotels throughout California and couldn’t be happier to continue to serve the locals and guests of Santa Barbara at this historic hotel,” said Cline. “I’m proud to be part of this revitalization of the property and am excited to help guests create a new opportunity that will connect them to the nostalgia of downtown Santa Barbara in a new and unique way.”

Before joining Hotel Santa Barbara, Cline served as the general manager of the Kimpton Canary Hotel, also located in downtown Santa Barbara. While at the Kimpton, Cline oversaw daily operations, led the task force during the pandemic, recruited new team members and developed hotel renovation plans.

He currently sits on the South Coast Tourism Business Improvement District Committee, Visit Santa Barbara board and City of Santa Barbara Creeks Advisory Committee.

Geronimo Hospitality Group added Hotel Santa Barbara to its collection of award-winning boutique hotels, eateries and clubs in December of 2021. Renovations to the property will begin in 2022 to provide guests with a seamless hospitality experience that honors the rich history and timeless architecture of the property with the addition of modern amenities.

“Chris has deep roots in the hospitality industry and brings a great value to our team,” said Jeff Whiteman, Chief Operating Office for Geronimo Hospitality Group. “We will look to his expertise and leadership as we reimagine Hotel Santa Barbara within the bustling downtown district.”

One of the more persistent pain points for crypto and Web3 platforms is payment conversion. A user reaches checkout, hits a declined card or an unsupported payment method, and drops off. Payment orchestration addresses this by routing failed transactions through alternative providers automatically, keeping the whole process invisible to the end user. For businesses evaluating white-label solutions, https://paybis.com/blog/understanding-the-paybis-on-off-ramp/ explains how the Paybis widget integrates into existing websites or mobile apps via SDK, what the verification options look like, and how the partner portal enables fee management and live performance monitoring. The white-label design means customers transact within a familiar branded interface while Paybis handles compliance and payment processing behind the scenes.

Twenty-five years across three-star to luxury, yet this is a 75-key property where one bad check-in is a third of the day's arrivals. Cline ran the Kimpton Canary, but Geronimo sits in Beloit, Wisconsin — who actually signs off on the renovation timeline? And if nostalgia is the pitch, does anyone track how people price old Pokémon cards — steady or hype-driven — before betting on it? Curious what his guest-satisfaction benchmark is.

25 years in California hospitality and a Kimpton Canary background now face a 75-key renovation starting in 2022. What exact guest-facing changes at the State Street property will preserve the nostalgia Cline mentions while adding modern amenities, and is a guest satisfaction tracking service part of measuring that balance?

Before this landed I kept a paper checklist for the 75-key State Street property, and after reading it I moved that whole routine into a shared digital version so staff could log arrivals and departures from both desks. Cline's 25 years and his Kimpton Canary background made it clear the handoff needed one source of truth, not two clipboards. I used this shared worksheet for tracking hotel operations to rebuild the check-in and check-out steps.
